1937 Founding of the ARBEITSGEMEINSCHAFT NORDISCHE STAATEN which initially concerns itself with Denmark, Norway and Sweden. |

1947 Attempts are made to reestablish the ARBEITSGEMEINSCHAFT NORDISCHE STAATEN. |

1955-1969 Study Groups are established for the individual countries. |
|
1970 At the first National Philatelic Research Congress, a proposal to unite the previously independent Study Groups of Norway,Sweden, Denmark and Finland is accepted. |

1971 The FORSCHUNGSGEMEINSCHAFT NORDISCHE STAATEN of the BDPh e.V. is officially established. The society's journal "PHILATELISTISCHE NACHRICHTEN" appears on a regular basis. |

1972 The Denmark Study Group joins the Research Society. |
|
1973 The FORSCHUNGSGEMEINSCHAFT NORDISCHE STAATEN now has 200 members. |
|
1974 The society receives it´s constitution. Membership now stands at 250. |
|
1977 There are now 300 members. The journal "Philatelistische Nachrichten" introduces a section for reporting on articles in other journals which later appears as the "Wikingerberichte". |

1979 The membership reaches 350 and members-only auctions are introduced. |
|
1983 A separate Study Group for the Faroe Islands is brought into being, which until now were part of the Greenland Study Group. |
|
1985 The total membership, including overseas members, reaches 400. |
|
1989 A Study Group for the Åland Islands is established. |
|
1990 The Society amalgamates with it´s counterpart in the former East Germany. |
|
1995 At the Sindelfingen `95 Philatelic Fair, the Society has it´s own promotion stand and a stamp-exhibition. |

1997 The study group "Nordische Staaten" is honoured with the Vespermann-Gedächtnis-Preis (Vespermann Memorial Award) for outstanding contributions to philately. certificate and laudation |

2000 German-icelandic stamp-exhibition DÍEX 2000 in Reykjavík. |

2001 The Society joins the World Wide Web. |

2006 The "Special Award of the Forschungsgemeinschaft Nordische Staaten e.V. for outstanding merits regarding scandinavian philately" was bestowed for the first time. |

2015 Under the title "Die Postgeschichte Finnlands - Teil 1 - Von den Anfängen bis Ende 1844" ("The Postal History of Finland - Part 1 - From the beginnings till the end of 1844") by dr Wolf Hess (RDP), a book was published for the first time, in addition to the handbooks and catalogs turned out by us so far. |
