At an meeting on Wednesday September 9 the exhibition committee for Nordia 2020 decided to cancel the exhibition planned for December 4-6 this year. The exhibition will take place at a later date. (Link).

On the 21st of July, 2020 the International Stamp Fair Sindelfingen 2020 was called off. The organisation team hopes for a reunion in 2021.

Mr. Matthias Wiegner, the new editor of the "Philatelistische Nachrichten"

The board has appointed Mr. Matthias Wiegner, Weilheim, from the 1st of May, 2020 to the editor of the "Philatelistische Nachrichten". Mr. Roland Daebel, Oranienburg, has put his activity as a provisional editor. Mr. Daebel will continue the activity as an editor of the Internet sites.

General Meeting 2020 and Exhibition DURIA 2020 are called off

The General Meeting 2020 of Forschungsgemeinschaft Nordische Staaten e.V. (25th of April, 2020 in Düren) was called off on the 15th of March, 2020 by the board. This is a reaction to the increasing propagation of Corona Virus. A new appointment cannot be called yet. At given time suitable notifications will occur to the members. The Stamp Exhibition DURIA 2020 (from 24th to 26th of April, 2020 in Düren) called off by the exhibition management on the past week-end for same reason.

MICHEL "Northern Europe" 2020 in new subdivision

The Schwaneberger Verlag GmbH informs on the 22^nd of January, 2020 in his web site about a new subdivision of the European catalogues [link]. In 2020 the European catalogues will not appear any more in 7, but in 16 volumes.

During the past months there were different announcements and rumours about changes and future stamp issues with POSTPHIL. But on the 23^rd of January, 2020 POSTPHIL published the issue plan in 2020 [PDF in English]. Therefore, are planned for only two issue days - 7^th of May and 29^th of October, 2020 - 21 stamps and a special block. Booklets are not mentioned in the announcement. "Dear customer,
In an effort to help stabilize Iceland Post's economic situation, the company's board has decided to close Postphil in its current form at the end of this year. Postphil has been operating at a loss since 2014. Revenue has decreased significantly due to a fall in the number of customers, while operating costs have remained the same.

"Special Award of the Forschungsgemeinschaft Nordische Staaten e.V. for outstanding merits regarding Scandinavian philately"
was bestowed for the fifth time. Honoured was the longtime 1^st leader and secretary of the Forschungsgemeinschaft, editor of the newsletters and the "Philatelistische Nachrichten" as well as author and translator, Mr. Dieter Fullrich, Winsen/Luhe. Die FG Nordische Staaten e.V. gab ein neues Finnland-Buch heraus [Vorschau: pdf-Datei]. In diesem exklusiven Buch informiert der Autor, Herr Dr. Wolf Heß, über Formen und Abläufe der Briefbeförderung während der schwedischen Besatzung bis 1809 und dem nachfolgenden Großfürstentum unter vermehrt russischem Diktat bis 1844. Durchgehend werden die jeweiligen Tarifperioden aufgezeigt und anhand von Belegen in Farbe demonstriert. Ebenso wird auf die verwendeten handschriftlichen Vermerke sowie auf die Stempel und deren Verwendungszeiten eingegangen sowie deren Bedeutung erklärt.

During the General Meeting 2015 Mr. Manfred Schäfer, Wartenberg, was confirmed for new leader of sub-group Norway. Mr. Jürgen Tiemer, Altwittenbek, honorary member and ownwer of the "Special Award of the Forschungsgemeinschaft Nordische Staaten e.V. for outstanding merits regarding Scandinavian philately", had laid down in 2012 after long-standing successful activity this work for age reasons.

From the year 2006 all icelandic stamps show only Krónur-value without Aurar. The base are two gouvernement directives from oct. 1st, 2003. The 5, 10 and 50 Aurar coins was invalid and no one is obligated to make or accept payments in Aurar ("Stamp News" 1/2006 from Postphil).

STAMPS OF ICELAND 1872 - 1904
This third book of Henry Regeling is a detailed study of the Icelandic Skilling and Aurar stamps. The book starts with an introduction where Henry explains how the stamps came in existence, the specific distinctive marks and all other characteristics of the stamps there self. Here we also find all important data like; stamp deliveries, postal rates, used cancels. The main part of the book is dedicated to a detailed analyses of the 98 printings as well as the settings and plate errors and varieties who can be identificated as well as there positions in the sheet. The illustrations are very clean and clear and the show the varieties and plate flaws scheduled by there values. Also the Þrír and the Í GILDI overprints are described as well. The so called Berne printings are not forgotten. Last but not least we find information about the issued postcards. The book ends with an extensive literature list in which we find many articles, books and catalogs mentioned.

From time to time the icelandic Post and later the Postphil have made up special plastic salespackings for stands in turistshops, fuelsales, bookstoores etc. These have always been closed with a special printed flap and stapled. None of this has ever been advertised by the Post and is an addition to the booklets. The icelandic philatelist and writer Thór Thórsteins belive some 15 different ones or more have been made.
